Dear Soccer Players, Parents and Coaches:

Our Board Members and Volunteers are working hard to provide a better soccer environment for your 2008 Spring Soccer Season, as well as in the past seasons, and their efforts are appreciated by all.

And a special thanks to those individuals that have stepped up to volunteer their time to be a Spring Coach. You perform a vital role in our youth program by sharing your technical abilities on the soccer field.

One final note for parents, coaches and players; why do children play soccer? They play in order to find the tools they will need not only to be successful in soccer, but also in life. Physically the game trains the individual for the future, building strength and endurance. Morally, the game provides a path to respect and order. Merely being a part of a team commits the child to respect the rules of the game, the decisions of the referees, his teammates, and his opponents.

Coaches, for these reasons, we insist that you continuously enhance your experience in training children and improve your knowledge of the game. Coaches must serve as educators, psychologists, and sometimes even parental figures. Parents please support your children in any positive way; you are the main influence in your children’s lives, be a role model on and off the field.  Players remember that a great player must have fire in the belly and ice in the head. It is TALENT that gets you there; it is CHARACTER that keeps you there. Together we all make up NBYSA.

Thank you for your support and let’s have a great 2008 Soccer Season.

Sincerely,

Dave Vieira, President
